Little Chicks

I purchased my copy of Christel Weidmann's book tatting farm animals since my grandaughter Meagan wanted to tat the chicks. Her 1st one was chick # 4 which is the cutest chick of them all. I forgot to take a picture of Meagan's chick' It looks as good as mine.

Note: for chick #3, When it tells you to RW, I had to do the unflipped stitch inorder for my picots to face out. I don't know if that is due to the fact that I am a frontside/backside tatter or not.
I never do traditional tatting, the only tatting I do is frontside/backside tatting. In backside tatting, to make it short and simple, when reversing your work, start with the 2nd half of the double stitch instead of the 1st half of the double stitch.

  1. These are adorable! I have the book - don't know when I'll get to it though. I'm a traditional tatter so I'm glad to hear I won't have to make any changes.

  2. Gina, I just wanted to throw that in about being a frontside/backside tatter just incase someone comes along and makes that comment....LOL

But I think you will find it does not matter if you are a frontside or traditional tatter like my grandaughter Meagan who just turned 9 and has been tatting since she was 6.
