2010 SC State Fair Entries

Here is what you have all been waiting to see, my Ribbons I won in the 2010 SC State Fair.  So without further ado I present to you the 5 Blue Ribbons I won.
Edging Category
design is from Fantasia by Iris Niebach

Jewelry category in Tatting I used size 10 Lizbeth thread and 6 mm oval pearls and 4mm round pearls. The necklace is from the book Tatting theory and patterns by Jan Stawasz.

Small Doily category in Tatting
The doily is from Tatting Visual Patterns by Mary Konior

Paper Punch Category
The roses were made using individual small pear punch from the Book The Paper Garden Summer Blooms by Susan Tierney Cockburn.  I used the same punch for the rose buds. The butterfly is from my
Cricut cartridge Bloom, the leaves and small white flowers are punches from Punch Bunch.

Knitted Scarf pattern is from The Needler.  The scarf has over 2500 black 6/0 beads.  I used a 100% cotton sport weight yarn. There is no right or wrong side to the scarf, because there are beads on both sides.

  6. I was browsing through the blogs of the Past Participants on the 25-Motif Chellenge and came across this post of your recent Blue Ribbon wins!

Congratulations on these beautiful tatted pieces! And your tatting blog is filled with all kinds of wonderful tatting and DESIGNS, which you have generously shared!

I then learned your granddaughter made that amazing doily! How fabulous to share this interest in tatting together! (Her pillow last year is amazing, too! How proud you must be!)

Then there is the gorgeous paper craftng you do! I checked out your separate blog - and I was again bedazzled. I can't imagine what your craft room or area must look like with all the gadgets and supplies you have! I have made my share of cards over the years, but they're not quite up to your diversity! And I have a really difficult time finding room for my supplies and keeping them organized. I've held off getting a cricut machine so far - I have no idea where I'd put it!

I'm also retired, but not nearly as busy as you are. And I certainly don't garden. I'm not great at keeping plants alive!

And please fill me in on the 'race car driving' episode of your life! That sounds crazy!!!!

  9. Congratulations! Your tatting is beautiful!

Socks? Good for you. I always tell students of sock knitting that the most important thing is to follow the instructions to the letter! Do not go further than the sentence you cannot understand! Everyone does, though! Good luck with the heel and the instep.

Feel free to email me if you have difficulty, if there is no one in person you can get to explain.

  10. OMG, Mary, all of these are awesome, beautiful and intricate. What you've done is amazing, but what Megan did as an 11 year old is awesome.
