The Vine Edge

Today I was going through my vintage tatting books and came across an unusual edging. I do not know if anyone else in the tatting world has seen this edging and rewrote the instuctions. Here is my interpretation. This is from Anna Valeire's Book # 2 Crochet & Tatting Manual. When I read the instructions I was amazed at how convaluded the instructions are. I really wonder if anyone could really follow the original pattern. Here is the original pattern

R = 5 - 5, clr rw

**ch = 5 - 2ds - 5 - 5, rw

r = 2 - (x2) + to picot of previous ring, 2- 2- rw

* ch = 2 - 2, rw

R = 2 + to last picot of previous ring, 2 ds - (x4) 2 ds clr,

Repeat 2 more x from *, RW for a total of 3 x all together.

ch = 5 + last picot of chain 5 - 2 - 5 , rw

R = 5 + to 3rd picot of last ring 5, clr, rw

Ch = 5 - 2 - 5 - 5 rw

R = 2 - 2 - 2, + to the picot of the last ring, 2 - 2- 2, clr, rw

Ch = 5, rw

R = 2 - (x5) 2, clr, rw

Ch = 5ds

R = 2 ds - (x5) 2, clr, rw

Ch = 5 + to last picot of large 5ds chain, 5 - 2 - 5, rw

R = 5, + to picot of previous ring, CLR, RW

Repeat from * * for the desired length.
